16 “castaways” compete for the title of Sole Survivor and the grand prize of $300 in Season 4 of Survivor Twin Cities.
Survivor Twin Cities is a semester-long competition that aims to replicate the hit reality show “Survivor.” It’s a student-run competition that’s currently in its fourth season. The show starts with 16 student players who get voted off each week. It’s all about who will outwit, outplay, and outlast the other 15 contestants.
This season’s theme is brain vs brawn separating the players into two tribes: the brain tribe, Zorro, and the brawn tribe, Adelaar. Each week, the contestants battle for team immunity sending the opposite tribe to tribal council where one player’s battle for the title comes to an end. Eventually, the tribes merge together making it an individual game. Winners of individual immunity challenges receive an immunity necklace that guarantees them safety at the next vote. Just like in the real show “Survivor,” idols are also at play. Idols are hidden all around campus and when found, can be used to save a contestant from eviction before the votes are revealed.
The contestants go to confidential confessionals where they can reveal their inner thoughts, alliances, lies, and schemes in the works. After each player is voted out, they become a part of the jury and are still very much involved in the game. In the end, the jury ultimately decides who the winner is so jury management is a big factor for the contestants. The jury gets to silently witness each challenge and tribal council but is not able to watch the contestant’s confessionals and who they cast their vote for. Similar to the real show “Survivor,” the jury gets to ask each of the final three contestants one question of their choosing at the final tribal council. Tribal councils can get very heated with emotions running high. This is the opportunity for contestants to say what they feel and make their case as to why they deserve the title of Sole Survivor.
